PHONE CALLS AND MESSAGES
Over the time I have come to realize that some people do not actually know what to say when making a phone call or messaging someone else.
Now, hold on, if I have your number saved in my phone means I will definitely know who is calling and you can say whatever.
If I don’t have your number saved then it is not easy to know who you are (unless it’s someone am used to and I can tell from your voice right?)
I don’t understand when someone calls or messages me (the person I know or not) from unknown number (not saved in my phone) and expect me to magically know who it is or what you want
Like how is it difficult to just introduce yourself first before you say anything else?
Now, this could go either;
Him/Her: Hello
Me: Hello
Him/Her: Am I speaking to Rachel?
Me: (Now I know it’s me you want to speak to so it’s a yes).
Him/Her: This is (name), calling from (place).........( then you can say whatever it is you wanted to say)
OR cut the conversation short and just:
Him/Her: Hello
Me: Hello
Him/Her: This is (name), calling from (place).........( then you can say whatever it is you wanted to say)
I also prefer people who use at least two names because it’s easy to know it’s actually me this person wants.
Now wait, don’t get all mad when I try to tell you how to pronounce or write my name correctly.
Please don’t expect me to figure out who you are because most likely I won’t. Like this guy:
(Text or phone call received from unknown number......)
Him/Her: Hey
Me: Hello
Him/Her: Mambo?
Me: .............
Or me trying to be patient:
Him/Her: Hey
Me: Hello
Him/Her: Mambo
Me: Sorry, whom am I speaking to? And how may I help you?
Him/Her: Guess who/have you deleted my number already
Me: .............(like come on!!)
Like come on.....
People should learn how to introduce themselves first when making phone calls regardless of the situation or environment. Don’t make other people miss opportunities because of your unprofessional mannerisms.
Let me not start talking about those who write messages in short forms......like really???
