LAME EXCUSES

What happened to honesty? or making an effort? Or being courteous? Or being responsible? 

There are so many times that people think they can get away with lame excuses. What do I mean by a lame excuse? A lame excuse is such an excuse that is inappropriate or with lack of thought. To me, a lame excuse is more or less a lie that people think they can get away with. 

Why do people give such lame excuses? 

1. They haven't done something that they were required/asked to do. For instance, saying "I woke up late" after coming for an exam late, the exam that one knew and was scheduled weeks before. 

2. They want the conversation to end. We all can relate to this. Some people will just say anything to end the conversation. When you think of it, its not logical/doesn't mean anything. 

3. They want to avoid doing something like starting a business, start exercising, help a customer, you name it. Saying, "I don't have enough time" or "Come back later" or "Am not inspired" are examples of lame excuses.

Before you give a lame excuse, you may wanna re-think it over. How many people are you willing to hurt? How many people are you willing to annoy? How many people are you willing to provoke? How many people will actually buy it?  How many times are you willing to waste one's time? 

Again, what happened to honesty? Or making an effort? Or being courteous? Or being responsible? 

Here are few examples:

You are late for work or an exam, accept that you are late, apologize and mean it. "Don't ruin an apology with an excuse". 

You can make an effort to try to have a conversation with someone, be honest that you wont be able to have the conversation at the time and schedule to speak some other time. 

Always make an effort to do things. Don't ask a customer to come back some other time just because you are lazy to look for a file or its not your job to do what he/she asked when u can help look for someone who can help him/her. So you wanna loose weight but make excuses like, "i cant jog by myself" or "the gym is too far from where I live" etc. 

Ah! People's favorite lame excuse is "am busy". Busy is actually great but MAKE AN EFFORT!. So you cant do something at one time, make an effort by sparing some time to do it. If you wanna do something, you will find a way. 

I know, I know, honest can be cruel. BE HONEST ANYWAYS!  Don't utter a lame excuse because you are afraid one will be hurt or angry. Just remember to say it in a POLITE manner 'BE COURTEOUS'. 

Don't blame others for your own failures and don't make lame excuses. Don't break people's trust in you. Its hard to restore trust. BE RESPONSIBLE!
